Virtual reality veil

Finding place: Ireland, Dublin (2045) 100% Acrylic Knitting Yarn, Baby white

A key learning from the isolation of Covid-19 was a renewed understanding of the deeply social nature of learning. There was a resurgence of emphasis on craft skills, critical engagement, and research. The the foundation of art and design is in craft.

The focus was on slowing down, to foster the understanding and insight gained through time spent thinking through making.

Students and lecturers rebuilt in-person studio culture, collaborating with local and international communities. A component of this open learning environment was the virtual reality veil which allows the experience of multiple environments and connections.

The hand made nature of the object reflects the need to think strategically and reflect carefully before expending resources in producing objects.
